Pranjal Sharma is an economic analyst, advisor and author who focuses on technology, globalisation and inclusive growth. He serves on boards of enterprises and non-profit entities which are leveraging emerging technologies for sustainable and equitable growth. He was a member of the Digital Transformation Taskforce of B20 India.

Pranjal leads public discourse at global and national platforms including the World Economic Forum (WEF), St Gallen Symposium, Horasis Global Meeting and Web Summit. He served as a member of the Global Agenda Council at the WEF for eight years. He is a member of its expert network and a regular speaker at Davos. He has been a speaker at WEF Summits in UAE, China, Colombia, the Philippines, Myanmar, Mongolia, South Africa and Ethiopia.

Pranjal also guides projects on economic forecasting, business intelligence and public diplomacy to interpret policy impact on industry and society. He has written and edited several reports and papers on economic development. Pranjal writes for publications including Gulf News, Business Standard, The Sunday Guardian newspaper and BusinessWorld magazine.

His latest book “The Next New: Navigating the Fifth Industrial Revolution”, published by HarperCollins, is the first in the world to chronicle the impact of the fifth industrial revolution while quantifying the magnitude of revenue shifts globally.

His previous book was “India Automated: How the Fourth Industrial Revolution is Transforming India” (Pan Macmillan). His earlier book “Kranti Nation: India and The Fourth Industrial Revolution”, (Pan Macmillan) published in 2017 was the first to chronicle the impact of emerging technologies in India. Kranti Nation was featured at Davos 2018 during the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to showcase the strides India has made in adopting emerging technologies.

Pranjal served as Advisor Strategy (2012-2014) to India’s public service broadcaster PrasarBharati, (Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India) where he helped bring in industry best practices and enabled the creation of digital media teams. Previously, he spent more than two decades in print, internet and TV media, mostly in leadership roles with a focus on India’s economic engagement with the world.

Pranjal has been a speaker at several global fora including Bled Strategic Forum, Government of Slovenia, Ljubljana, (2014); Ambition India, Government of France, Paris, (2019); and Summit of Minds, Government of Armenia, Yerevan (2021); Commonwealth Business Forum, Kigali, Rwanda (2022); BRICS Business Forum, Johannesburg, SA (2023).

As Founding Executive Editor at Bloomberg UTV, he helped launch and run the channel. At TV Today Network, his team pioneered economic news content for non-English audiences.
