At 26, Munaf quit his job at Google India to become the full-time “Chief Eating Officer” of The Bohri Kitchen – a venture he co-founded with his mother to make the lesser-known cuisine of his small Bohra community world famous. Munaf now goes as the self-styled “Guy Who Quit Google To Sell Samosas”, which is also the title of his forthcoming book slated to release in August 2020.
His efforts have put him on the Forbes 30 under 30 (2017) list, Forbes Asia Arts Top 30 (2017) list, Entrepreneurship Magazine’s 35 under 35 (2017) list and Conde Nast India’s Top 50 Food Influencers (2017). He is also the recipient of the Midday Rising Star Award (2018) and the prestigious INK fellowship (2018).
Munaf Kapadia’s entertaining and masterful style of storytelling has helped him share his learnings and insights with a wide range of audiences – from students at some of India’s premier institutions – IIT Madras, St. Xaviers Jaipur, IIT Mumbai, Cathedral & John Connon School, NMIMs to prestigious F&B forums including the keynote address at the Indian Restaurant Congress, UberEats APAC Conference in Hong Kong, Zee MELT – a platform that showcases disruptive marketing across industries.
Munaf has also represented industry-specific interests on panels instituted by the Competition Commission of India, the Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Association of India, the National Restaurant Association of India and the Maharashtra Tourism Department.
