Nitin is the founder of Chaayos, India’s first tea café, which has transformed “tea drinking” in the cities. A first generation, young entrepreneur, Nitin talks about how to sell an idea, how to tackle market dynamics and how to understand your customer.
Living away from home, he realised the role that chai played in his life when he was unable to get that perfect cup of tea. And hence, he decided to bring about a chai revolution which would soon become a force to reckon with. His passion for chai led him and his friend Raghav Verma to start Chaayos, now India’s leading chai café.
Nitin handles Research and Development for the various teas offered at his café and has also curated most of the Chaayos menu. Today, Chaayos has about 37 outlets in Delhi, Mumbai and Chandigarh and is fast expanding to other cities like Pune and Bangalore.
However, Chaayos is not Nitin’s first shot at entrepreneurship – he co-founded a robotics education company (ThinkLABS) at IITB, which is today valued over $10 million. Prior to Chaayos, he worked at Opera Solutions, a consulting firm.
