Ratna Vira

Author, Artist, Consultant

She could be called a bold blend of a mind that exudes creativity and also has a deep understanding of the corporate world. Ratna Vira’s career as a corporate leader included her holding senior CXO positions, and Communications and Human Resource profiles in organisations like MTS India, Quatrro, Apollo International, Bharti Enterprises, PWC and PepsiCo.

Having spent years in the corporate world, she took a break to pen down books. Her book – Daughter by Court Order – published in India in 2014 was in the Indian Top 10 Fiction List for over four months. The book has also been featured in The New York Times. The issue that the book talks about was widely debated and discussed, so much so that Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself sent across a note of recognition and appreciation to Ratna for bringing to light the issues that women deal with in feudal Indian families. So touched and motivated was Ratna by the message received by the Prime Minister that she launched the DBCO Forum for Women where anyone can contribute time and skills to support women facing inequality and discrimination.

Passionate about enlightening people, especially the youth, Ratna has conducted speaking sessions in universities like University of Oxford, Said Business School, Nanyang University Singapore, IIM Indore, Symbiosis and Kings’ School Canterbury. She has also been a professor of Creative Writing at St Stephen’s College. Besides, Ratna is a talent artist and her paintings have decorated various offices and homes in US, London and India.
