Aakanksha joined PM Relocations Pvt. Ltd. (PMR) when she was 21 years old. She was the boss’s daughter hence the urge to prove herself was strong. She began quickly changing things around and working towards scalability. She went on to handle PMR’s corporate sales, marketing and operations, among other departments. She travelled and lived in different parts of the country to understand the culture and pulse of the city establishing a good team and work process. She handpicked her team and has worked from the root level up day in day out.
Under Aakanksha’s leadership of 15 years, PMR expanded its base to 10 offices across India, including Mumbai, Chennai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. The bottom-line grew manifold; and turnover grew from INR 3 crores in 2007 to closing around 100 crores today! With Aakanksha’ s vision, PMR is now spearheading the organized relocation business in India; and its next steps are bound to decide the course that the industry takes.
Aakanksha in August 2018 was blessed with a baby girl, ‘Samaira Bawa’. As a mompreneur now, she is a strong voice today for women at work; passionate about balancing work with personal life. Her views and approach are shared in many articles, blogs and videos topics ranging from entrepreneurship and success/failure to being a mother, work life balance, traveling with a toddler and lots more!
Being an avid traveler all her life, she recently also launched her travel blog, Travelrendezvous where she enjoys sharing her journey over the years of learning, exploring and finding herself. She started traveling solo at a very young age for work and has travelled close to 35 countries along, with a zeal for new places, stories and experiences.
She enjoys interacting with people and most importantly believes in sharing her journey and learning. Recently she was a part of the #MentorForChange initiative by NITI Ayog under the Atal Innovation Mission. She is a regular speaker and has addressed the students in a guest lecture organized by the Indian Business School at Hyderabad, division of MHROD at Delhi School of Economics, RLA College South Campus – Delhi, IILM University Gurugram, PSG College of Technology and has been invited to many more universities and colleges. Apart from this Aakanksha has spoken on various industry and non-industry platforms such as the FICCI #WEP, WeEnlighten Forum at the Think Big Event, Women of Worth Platform organized by Outlook Business and at the prestigious UN Global Compact.
In her spare time, Aakanksha unwinds with casual coffee dates with her husband Sumit. Bollywood films and music help her de-clutter her head. Aakanksha closely follows cricket, a game she has loved since her childhood. Dancing to her is like meditating! A trained Kathak dancer, she tries to devote as much time to these pursuits as her hectic schedule allows. A voracious reader, she reads every day before retiring to bed.
