An accomplished media professional brought up by professedly progressive parents, Aastha pursued her iconoclastic instinct to challenge the dominant patriarchy in Indian society. Challenging the prescribed norm that mass media is an arena for men, she has been successful in leaving an indelible mark on Indian media in less than two decades. Her thoughts on female emancipation through the medium of mass communication are inspiring and bound to make one contemplate the future of contemporary Indian society.
In her career span of 17 years, she had a humble beginning as an assistant producer at ABP News, and within two years, she was appointed as a programming producer at ETV News Network. Thereafter, her penchant for work took her to the pedestal of Cluster Programming Head at the popular radio station 94.3 MY FM, where she served for 5 years. From then on, she has been heading Client Solutions at News 18 Network, Pan India.
Over the years, her contribution to Indian media has won her many accolades and achievements. She was felicitated in 2014 with the “Women of Eminence Award” given by the Education Minister for exemplary work in the field of media. She was also awarded at the Laadli Media National Awards in the same year for her campaign “Bol”, an initiative to raise a voice against female violence in the country. She secured a place in the “Top 100” successful women of Jaipur (Rajasthan) in July 2015. Her achievements have crossed borders and have also gotten her recognition internationally. She has been part of the prestigious jury panel of the “New York Film Festival” for the last seven years.
Aastha’s passion for the betterment of everything in life can be seen off-work too, in her contribution to her family and in her philanthropic attitude towards the underdogs. She is an explorer and loves to travel around the world, learning and adapting to the best of various cultures. She also contributes to the future of youth by taking UG and PG lectures at IIS University for girls. Her prowess and leading qualities are an inspiration to the youth to follow their instincts and achieve the extraordinary.
