Ambassador Yogesh Gupta

Former Ambassador and Secretary to Government of India

Ambassador Yogesh Gupta has held senior positions including Ambassador/High Commissioner at Indian Missions in Pakistan, USA, Italy, Denmark, Nigeria, Zambia and others and in Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi. He is an experienced writer and speaker on foreign policy, global affairs and security issues. His assessments on India’s relations with USA, China, Pakistan and other countries are much sought as these reflect perceptive cross-sectoral analyses including examination of new political, economic and strategic alignments.

He has represented India at the United Nations and participated in several UN professional bodies, such as the UN Committee on Budget and Administration, and Pension Board, as an expert in personal capacity.

Ambassador Gupta has written more than 50 articles in major Indian and foreign newspapers and has participated in numerous TV and other public speaking engagements in various counties. He writes regularly in Times of India, The Tribune, Deccan Herald and other newspapers. Before joining the Indian Foreign Service in 1976, he taught at Meerut and Jodhpur Universities. He has also participated in selection and training of Civil Services aspirants for many years.
