Dilshad Master

Adventurer | Cancer Survivor | Director, Outward Bound India Himalaya

Dilshad worked in the media and entertainment space for over 22 years, before quitting it all to follow her calling to the mountains. A cancer survivor, Dilshad speaks on topics closest to her heart, specifically conquering the impossible and finding inspiration within oneself.

As an adventurer and explorer, Dilshad has led several treks in Nepal and India including Everest Base Camp, tackled Grade 5 rapids on the wild Zanskar river in Ladakh and is the first and only female to ever lead a civilian trek to the Siachen Glacier.

Today, she sits on the board of Outward Bound India Himalaya, an international organization that works with children, young people and professionals empowering them with life skills by giving them experiential training in the outdoors. She urges them to step out of their comfort zones and into the wilderness to understand success and failure, leadership and responsibility, teamwork and personal growth, aspirations and ambitions.

Dilshad started her television career in India with STAR Movies, where she launched Zee Cinema for the media partnership. She went on to head the operations team to re-launch STAR Plus in Hindi, on to STAR News with NDTV, and then both brands on the BSkyB platform in UK.

She led the programming and marketing teams at National Geographic Channel and The History Channel, when they were both looking to make inroads into the Indian viewer’s mind-space. She was the COO of UTV Entertainment where she launched two more television channels. Over the span of her career, Dilshad has led a total of nine television channel start-ups.
