Dr. Deepali Pant Joshi

A development economist and writer, Dr. Deepali Pant Joshi is a former Executive Director of the Reserve Bank of India. She brings her leading perspective on Indian and global economics to her sessions.

While leading the charge for the Department of Currency Management, Dr. Joshi was at the helm of affairs in piloting through the demonetization and the subsequent remonetisation. She was the Appellate Authority under the Right to Information Act.

Dr. Joshi has a continuing engagement with academia and has lectured extensively both in India and abroad. She has also authored five books essentially on rural development, financial Inclusion and banking related subjects. Her latest book brought out by the Cambridge University Press is titled “The Financial Inclusion Imperative & Sustainable Approaches”.

Dr. Joshi joined the Reserve Bank of India as a middle Management Executive and served the Bank for thirty-six years. She has had a rich and varied professional career and has served in offices of the Bank such as Regional Director for Rajasthan at the RBI Jaipur, Chief General Manager-in-Charge of the Rural Planning & Credit Department at Central Office Mumbai, Chief General Manager of RBI Regional Office at Hyderabad, Ombudsman for the State of Andhra Pradesh, Principal, Bankers Training College, Mumbai, etc. She was the RBI nominee director on the Board of the Andhra Bank and the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection.
