An eco-warrior, author, journalist, traveller and a nature evangelist, Prerna was a member of India’s National Board for Wildlife and has been at the forefront of the battle to conserve India’s wildlife for over a decade. She is a regular and powerful speaker at various forums, including literary festivals, think tanks, schools, and universities, where she talks on diverse themes such as the wildlife crisis of India, the role of nature in our lives, travel writing and solo travel, amongst others.

She is currently a Visiting Fellow, UNESCO Category 2 Centre, Wildlife Institute of India. As part of this, Prerna is co-editing an anthology of World Natural Heritage Sites in South & Central Asia. Prerna’s primary focus is protecting wildlife habitats and critically endangered species. She works on various conservation campaigns and issues in partnership with other NGOS/NGIs/institutions/governments.

She is a widely published author with over 1,500 pieces on nature and wildlife, and occasional humour pieces. Her recently released books include The Vanishing: India’s Wildlife Crisis which has been acclaimed widely and was listed among the ‘important must-read books’ of 2017 by Mint.  Her other release this year, a gorgeously illustrated book for children When I Grow up I Want to be a Tiger, has won the Publishing Next Industry Award for Children’s Book of the Year (2017).

Prerna has been conferred the ABN-AMRO Sanctuary Asia Wildlife Service Award and the Carl Zeiss Wildlife Conservation Award for excellence in networking and engaging the public at large for the cause of wildlife conservation. She was honoured as an Ashoka ‘Changemaker’, with Ashoka Foundation listing her as one of the world’s most influential and inspiring women.

She is a Chevening Gurukul Fellow and was awarded the International Visitor Leadership Programme, the US Department of State’s premier professional exchange program.
